That Very Familiar Feeling

When do you know Christmas has finally arrived? For many years, it would be the Coca-Cola television spot, with the big US trucks (Holidays Are Coming). This year, it was as I drove home on Monday evening. I was joining the A419 southbound to join the M4 at Junction 15. I was listening to BBC Radio 2 (I generally tend to these days, I have not created an MP3 CD for several months now!). The very familiar opening bars of the song played, the humming from George and I put the volume up.

There is something about this song, which feels so quintessential 80s, my childhood and Christmas long ago. Of course, there have been many Christmas songs since and many too many cover versions in my humble opinion, but this will forever have a special place in my heart. What have I been up to for the past few weeks? I apologise that blog posts have been rather light on the ground recently. I just do not have the time to focus on “recording” my life at the moment. While most would agree this is not a bad thing and there is certain goodness in being busy, I feel I am forgetting to capture important moments that I will want to reflect on in the future. I have been reflecting on blogging and my personal blog and it does feel rather redundant. Do I really have the time to write up my week/weekends in detail for the world to read? Does the world care – either way? After eight years, have I come to a natural break? I am not too sure but feel my entries in perhaps the last year (most of which has been on WordPress) have been rather stale. I am sure others, even the few loyal readers would agree. The question is, what is the purpose of this blog and it still has a reason to exist, how much time and energy should I dedicate to posting entries.
